Stamford — MURAL, the Mount Utsayantha Regional Arts League will host the 2019 MURAL Student Art Show in Hobart. The exhibition will be on view at the MURAL on Main Gallery, located at 631 Main Street there from Saturday, March 30 through Saturday, April 20. In addition, MURAL will host an Opening Reception for this exhibit on Saturday, March 30, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
MURAL has been hosting student art shows in the Stamford region for more than 30 years. The 2019 MURAL Student Art Show will showcase the talent of artists from four local schools: Stamford, Jefferson, Gilboa-Conesville, and South Kortright. Art teachers from these schools select students in grades 9 through 12 to present work in a variety of media. Awards for art in this exhibition will be given based on judging by area art teachers Jill Karen Accordino and Lee Sperling. At the opening reception, ribbons will be hung and many of the students and art teachers will be available to share insights on the artworks. This event is free to attend and refreshments will be provided.
New for the 2019 Student Art Show, MURAL introduces a ‘People’s Choice Award.’ All gallery visitors may submit a vote for their favorite artwork in the 2019 MURAL Student Art Show. Voter ballots will be available at the Opening Reception on March 30 and during gallery hours through April 14. On April 15, votes will be counted and ‘People’s Choice Award’ winners will be announced.
