Walton — Music on the Delaware will welcome the duo The Kennedys on Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Walton Theatre.
Pete and Maura Kennedy have been touring and entertaining audiences for more than 20 years in the U.S. and the U.K. The couple, though natives of the East Coast, first met in Austin, Texas. They joined forces with Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra for a couple of years, and then set off on their own.
The Kennedy’s have written and recorded songs on many CDs, including the 2015 CD West, and solo CDs for each of the musicians. West seamlessly weaves their influences over the last two decades, many disparate threads from Buddy Holly style roots to the tuneful cadences of the Everly Brothers to the 12-string jangle of the early Byrds.
The Kennedys will present two workshops at the William B. Ogden Library on the same day at 11:00 for children, and at 1:00 for adults/families. The evening performance will feature an open jam session prior to the concert, at 6:30, in the theatre parlor.
More info on the band can be found at kennedysmusic.com. Music on the Delaware’s 2017- 18 concert schedule will finish with the French Canadian band, De Temps Antan on Saturday. April 7.
