‘Smoketown’ Plays in Walton

Walton — Smoketown, a talented duet with a unique take on Irish, folk and American root music, will take the stage at Coffeehouse at the Walton Theatre on Sunday, March 17, at 6:00 p.m.

Music on the Delaware presents the duo, composed of two brothers, Dennis and Jim Thompson, who present their own take on Irish, folk and American roots music. Dennis has sung and played guitar for many years at various sessions, festivals, and pubs both in Ireland and the U.S. Jim has played drums and percussion since he was a teen, everything from folk to rock and jazz. He has also been playing bodhran in local Irish Trad sessions since 2004. The brothers’ lives and music were greatly influenced by their Irish mother, Johanna O’Connor, who immigrated from Ireland in 1946.

Coffeehouse events are held on the third Sunday of each month and are free to the public with donations gratefully accepted and coffee/tea and homemade desserts available. The concerts are held on the second floor of the Walton Theatre. For more information see waltontheatre.org or call 607.865.6625.
