At least 25 members of The Arts Upstairs creative community will take new root at what was the old Phoenicia Pharmacy on Main Street this week. Margaret Owen, former director of the Arts Upstairs, is curating an art show at the Phoenicia Open Market and will open with a wine and cheese reception Saturday, Dec. 15, 4 to 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the old Arts Upstairs is becoming something new. Watch that space! Upstairs to Downstairs!
TAU to OM!
On Saturday, visitors will see heroic scale art in a big window, hi-roof storefront. Dave Channon’s anti-gravity chariot and dashing steed, Kevin Green’s humorous totem shovelheads and Doug Maguire’s expressionist landscapes are among those featured The entire Owen clan’s oeuvre along with Judith Singer, Astrid Nordness, Bronson Eden, Jan Sosnowitz, Lynn Fliegel, Anna Contes, Christina Varga, Anique Taylor and many more will be on hand. Music? Dance? Anything’s likely to happen at the opening, from chanting OM to making history.
