SLUITER AGENCY, INC., is a service-oriented general insurance agency that provides personalized products and services to individuals, families, and businesses in the central Catskill Region and beyond, including property, casualty, life, and related financial products and services. Established in 1914 by Mr. Close, the Sluiter Agency is one of the longest-tenured businesses in Margaretville. Our quaint village is a 2.5-hour drive from New York City and situated on the edge of Catskill Park, a 700,000-acre private and public land preserve, much of which is “forever wild.”

In 1950, William Sluiter purchased a 50 percent interest in the company. Over 74 years later, three generations of his descendants and a growing staff still contribute to its ongoing success and serve the insurance needs of more than 2,200 individuals and families and 300 businesses.

Our agency’s roots run deep here. Once dominated by dairy farming, we have seen the regional economy diversify to include tourism, recreation, country inns, farm markets, and antiquing.
