DELHI — In between the frigid days there are sure signs of spring and with that, the folks behind the rebuilding the Bramley Mountain Fire Tower in Delhi are already thinking ahead to the reconstruction project that will start in June.
Organizers are now recruiting Tower Stewards who will staff the tower on weekends, from opening day until Indigenous People’s Day. They have a number of enthusiastic volunteers already signed up, but they need more.
What you’ll do
Are you interested in serving one or more weekend days this summer on the summit of Bramley Mountain, greeting visitors to the new tower?
The duties of Tower Stewards are:
• Open the cab so that visitors can climb the tower, enter the cab and see the view as the Fire Observers saw it many years ago.
• Provide information to visitors about the history of the tower, about the natural environment, and about where to eat, drink, and relax after their hike. The organizers all the information that volunteers will need to know for this service.
• Notify the Friends of Bramley Mountain Fire Tower of any concerns or situations that need to be addressed.
You’ll get a cool Tower Steward “uniform” shirt and some other thank yous that will be announced soon.
Project organizers are starting work on scheduling and are developing a training plan, so they need to know who is interested in helping to bring the full experience of the fire tower to visitors.
If you’d like to join the group of Tower Stewards, please email us at info@bramleymountainfiretower.org and let us know.
