ROXBURY — If physical fitness is an important aspect of your life, The Studio Upstate in Roxbury offers an array of services to help keep you in top condition.
Personal trainer Jessica Halbrecht is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and has a decade of experience in the field. She opened her business on Main Street, Roxbury last November and has steadily been building up her clientele.
Jessica said the goal of her venture is to provide a “comfortable, lively, energetic space” where members can work out at their own pace, based on individual fitness goals. One of the innovative perks, she said, is that when someone becomes a member, they receive an access code for entry to the studio, so they can work out on their own, any time between 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
Fully equipped
The Studio Upstate is equipped with a Peloton treadmill and bike, workout benches, dumbbells, a squat rack, bench and all the necessities and accessories needed for a great workout. Members who have Peloton subscriptions are able to utilize their personalized workouts at the studio, but a Peloton subscription is not needed to utilize this equipment.
Jessica completely renovated the studio space, which is painted in warm tones and includes a large-screen TV and a lounge area.
The owner began her career as a personal trainer at Equinox in New York City. After relocating to the area, Jessica provided personal training expertise at the Catskill Recreation Center in Arkville, where she spent six years. Her NASM certification qualifies Jessica to perform instruction in all aspects of physical fitness. She specializes in several key areas, including senior fitness, golf fitness, and performance enhancements for sports.
There are many options for folks interested in workouts at The Studio Upstate. Annual or monthly memberships allow participants access on their own schedule, as described above. Group exercise classes, which last 30 minutes, are scheduled on a regular basis. There’s also a Ladies’ Lifting Club offered as a five-week program. Jessica has applied for Silver Sneakers certification and is considering adding this senior-oriented program.
Many options
For those who are just visiting the area or anyone who may just prefer only an occasional workout, Day Passes are available. There is also a discounted price on a Part-Timers’ Pass. Another alternative is a Class Pack for individuals who are not interested in a membership, but who would prefer to simply participate in exercise classes.
“My goal is to provide a relaxing, fun environment in which people can improve their physical fitness, at their own pace,” Jessica commented. “We welcome people with all levels of fitness experience.”
During the more temperate months, Jessica plans to introduce a running club and a boot camp workout series.
For those interested in specific areas of focus, Jessica provides Personal Training, available in packages of four or eight sessions, each lasting 30 minutes.
